Four Electives

Music Majors must take a minimum of four electives. One of these electives must be a classroom course in Global Music at the 200-level or higher. Students should also consider courses in all other fields of music, including but not limited to: Music History, Music Theory, Popular Music, Jazz, Music Technology, Composition, and Performance.

Two electives must be at the 200-level or higher, one of which must be a classroom experience. The second required course at this level may be a performance course.

Two electives must be at the 300-level or higher, one of which must be a classroom experience. The second required course at this level may be a performance course.

Required Global Music Course:

All students must take one classroom course of their choosing in Global Music at the 200 level or higher. This course is included among the four required electives.

Electives vary from year to year. See course offerings in the schedule of classes.

A minimum of two semesters of enrollment in each of the following categories, for which students will receive 0.25 overload lab credit:
