The a rt h istory and visual studies m inor emphasizes the techniques of visual intelligence necessary to successfully navigate an increasingly image-driven world. Students working closely with a diverse faculty of active researchers interpret and critique visual artifacts and critical literature to understand and to analyze the institutions of visual art, including the growing art market and popular media culture. Faculty bring their own areas of specialization into the classroom, providing students with real-world experience with contemporary artists, world-class museums, and cultural opportunities in the local greater metropolitan area. Art h istory and visual studies m inors have opportunities to conduct independent research, develop publishable texts, and gain experience in critical and curatorial practice.
