Description
The Associate of Arts degree (AA) degree is a general liberal arts degree. The AA is intended primarily for students who plan to transfer to another college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree. It can generally be considered the first two years of a four-year degree program. Many students choose to concentrate in a particular field of study or pre-major as preparation for a planned bachelor’s degree and major at a college or university. At least 40 of the 60 credits are taken to complete the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC). In addition to the 40 credit MnTC, the AA requires students to complete STSC 1021 or STSC 1050 , 2 credits in Health/Physical Education, and 16 additional credits, which may include additional MnTC courses, pre-major requirements, second language requirements, computer literacy courses, or electives, based on each student’s needs and intended educational goals.
