- English and Communication Studies at Hamline develop core skills in critical thinking, textual analysis, and communication across multiple media and contexts. The program offers three concentrations— Professional Communication; Texts, Media, and Culture, and; Writing, Editing, and Publishing—allowing students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. The curriculum emphasizes multimodal literacies: the practical and theoretical foundations for making, analyzing, and doing things with all sorts of texts, in order to make an impact in your career, our communities, and the world. Students engage in community-centered work, student-led publications, and professional experiences beginning in their first year, and refine those skills and their personal voice across multiple contexts throughout the arc of the degree.
