A checklist is the list of requirements to complete this program and receive the award, as the college publishes it in its catalog. It is the same for everyone. It does not say what you have completed; that comes from applying your own record.

- Description
- Return to: Majors and Minors This program qualifies students for general accounting careers in business but does not fully satisfy the educational requirements for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in New York State. New York and most other states require 150 semester hours of coursework for licensure as a CPA. Students intending to pursue careers in public accounting are advised to consider the BBA Major in Accounting (Licensure) program or our accelerated programs. Majors in accounting must have an overall grade point average of 2.0 in accounting coursework at Hofstra. In addition, they must have a C- or better in ACCT 101 , 102 , 123 , and 124 , whether taken at Hofstra or transferred in from another institution. Otherwise, these accounting courses must be retaken at Hofstra since no waivers will be granted for them. The major requirements are ACCT 115, 123 , 124 , 125 , 131 , 133 , 134 , 139 , 143 , 144 , 150 ; and BBA 002 (Microsoft Office Excel Expert Certification). Students enrolled in this program will automatically earn a concentration in Digital Accounting Technology upon completing the following five courses: IT 001 and IT 015 (business core), ACCT 115 , ACCT 134 , and ACCT 139 , (major courses).
