- Ecology is a branch of Biology that studies the relations of organisms to one another and to their environment. RPI has a substantial depth in Ecological research and faculty expertise, as well as Institute-wide initiatives such as the Jefferson Project. The Institute offers a minor in Ecology to all students consisting of 16 credit hours, as noted below.
