Description
RIT’s biology major encompasses the study of the living cell and its processes and patterns, organisms, and ecosystems. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on laboratory work and field experience. It begins with foundation courses in biology, math, chemistry, and liberal arts with subsequent courses immersing students in the spectrum of biological sciences, including animals, microorganisms, and plants at the level of molecules, cells, tissues, organisms, populations, and the environment. From the proper way to prepare cultures in the lab to gathering and analyzing ecological data in the field, you will acquire a comprehensive set of practical skills. Students are also encouraged to participate in undergraduate biology research projects to enhance their educational experience and prepare them for graduate school or full-time employment.
