Description
The film and animation BFA prepares you to creatively and practically produce your own independent work and to fulfill professional production responsibilities in any medium. Through lectures and labs, you will develop individual skills in moving-image communications and learn the aesthetic principles governing art. You have two options to choose from to pursue your craft. The animation option focuses on 2D, 3D, and stop motion animation and spans from conception to application to final production of short films. The production option provides hands-on experience with camera, editing and sound equipment to develop visual and sound artistry. Each semester students produce several individually designed short films in either live-action or animation by working through all phases of production, including scripting, production planning, budgeting, shooting, designing, animating, editing, and sound design. Students can complement their degree with a semester in Los Angeles learning from industry professionals. In the Study Away: LA program, you will complete internships and take two courses that support the experience. This degree also allows you to explore your creative interests related to video games by collaborating with developers and fellow artists on game and digital media projects to help you launch a career in game arts.
