A checklist is the list of requirements to complete this program and receive the award, as the college publishes it in its catalog. It is the same for everyone. It does not say what you have completed; that comes from applying your own record.

- Description
- RIT’s museum studies major teaches you how collections are built, curated, and interpreted and how to apply methods of exhibition and interpretation that are used in museums, archives, galleries, libraries, and public spaces like national parks. This degree includes an interdisciplinary, technology-infused curriculum that prepares you for careers in museums, archives, libraries, galleries, historical societies, and other cultural organizations. Three principles guide the program and your academic experience: a tech-infused and collections-based curriculum; hands-on projects, initiatives, and collaboration across campus; and community and equity-focused work. You will take a set of introductory core courses to familiarize you with the history, theory, and practice of institutional collecting. These courses are bolstered by classes in exhibition development, education and interpretation, and multi-platform interpretation and design. To broaden and deepen your knowledge, you will choose from a selection of electives and complete at least one co-op or internship experience in a cultural institution or similar entity.
