Archaeology Microcredential

State University of New York at Oswego · Oswego, NY

A checklist is the list of requirements to complete this program and receive the award, as the college publishes it in its catalog. It is the same for everyone. It does not say what you have completed; that comes from applying your own record.

Description
This Microcredential consisting of four-five courses (from three core areas) is designed for individuals seeking the required training for professional careers in archaeology: encompassing its history, theoretical background, methodological applications, and field-based practice. Moreover, this program aims to benefit those who seek employment in cultural resource management, public history, archaeology, and museums. The Archaeology microcredential program will be delivered through a combination of lectures, labs, and practical field experiences. This microcredential provides students with a methodological and theoretical background in the sub-discipline of archaeology, capped off by a transformational and reflective field or laboratory experience. Students can choose from a combination of courses, with most offered and required in-person, with a few hybrid, synchronous online, asynchronous, and/or hyflex course modalities. Participants will receive a microcredential in Archaeology from SUNY Oswego from faculty who have worked professionally in the field outside of academia.
