A checklist is the list of requirements to complete this program and receive the award, as the college publishes it in its catalog. It is the same for everyone. It does not say what you have completed; that comes from applying your own record.

- Description
- The 5 year multi-award degree program that allows students to get both a Bachelors in Mathematics and a Masters in Data Science. Students apply during their undergraduate studies and if accepted begin taking graduate courses their first semester of their 4th year. Mathematics, B.S. Mathematics encompasses logic and reasoning skills that provide the tools for making decisions, interpreting observations, explaining natural phenomena, and solving problems. The Department aims to instill in students an appreciation of mathematics, and to equip students with the skills needed to achieve academic and career goals within a complex technological society. In addition to serving mathematics majors, the Department offers for business, science and liberal arts majors a number of courses that concentrate on problem solving. The mission of the Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics is to teach students the fundamentals in a broad range of areas of mathematics, develop their skills in higher reasoning, logic, proof, abstraction, and mathematical modelling, and enable them to communicate mathematics effectively. The program prepares students for careers in the corporate, government and education sectors as well as for graduate school. Data Science, M.S. The interdisciplinary Data Science Master’s Degree provides a strong background in data science methodologies. The program has strong emphasis on the areas of programming, data management, data mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning and statistics. The degree culminates in a course in project management, a real-world internship experience and a two-semester capstone Data Science Project. Data science technologies have completely changed the way businesses plan and manage their operations. We see it in our everyday life, from recommender systems to large language models and natural language processing. And data science is behind the framework of decisions we do not see, such as managing large government entities, business intelligence, healthcare and educational management. We even see it in sports and entertainment. Graduates will be prepared to participate in this fast-arriving new world. For a student to apply to the program the student would fill out the change of major form in the portal. This would initiate the process. Admittance to the program requires a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and a minimum of a 3.0 GPA in Computer Science and Mathematics classes that count towards the major. Candidates submit an application that includes an essay. After receipt of the request through the portal form, and receipt of the essay and any test scores a committee (including the Graduate Director) will review the applications. To remain in the program, the student should maintain a GPA of 3.0 in the major.
