- Students enrolled in this minor will analyze and develop critical and creative communication skills in the specific organizational and cultural contexts of sports. A foundation in communication literacies - evaluating how communication works, and practicing across various modes and methods - is a reliable complement to any course of study. The learning experiences in this minor situate those general skills in studies that enhance a critical breadth and depth around the role of sports in culture and the role of culture in sports, tied to individual students’ particular areas of emphasis: in studies of organizations and leadership, in analyses of social and cultural meaning, and/or in explorations of the physical and biological conditions that enable athletic activity.
