- On June 22, 2010, the Board of Regents of the State of New York approved an amendment to our master plan to authorize Manhattanville University to offer its first program at the doctoral level, an Ed.D. in educational leadership. The purpose of the doctoral program is to meet the needs of mid-career professionals who typically have leadership experience in various educational contexts such as public or private schools, community programs, institutions of higher education, governmental agencies, or in NGOs with major education initiatives. This program builds on Manhattanville's educational leadership master's and Professional Diploma certification programs for building level and/or district-level leadership. Students complete a three-year program of study consisting of 59 credits (including a traditional five-chapter dissertation) that tightly integrates coursework, field experiences, and applied research. The doctoral program experiences are organized around five themes: leading learning organizations, becoming a sophisticated practitioner-scholar, developing self and others, participating in professional and policy-making communities, and facilitating responsive education programs. The program is offered in partnership with the Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES.
