Advanced Standing - Credit for Prior Learningprior_learning
Advanced Standing - Credit for Prior Learning Students may be eligible to receive or earn credit for knowledge acquired through life and work experiences that are closely related to the learning objectives of the College’s credit courses. This knowledge may have come through on-the-job experiences, professional workshops, noncredit classes at business or technical schools, volunteer activities, personal study or other pursuits. A maximum of 36 credit hours may be transferred for any one associate degree. Students can earn credit for prior learning through: Portfolio Development College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Credit by Examination Credit for Military Training Schools Transfer Credits from Other Colleges Advanced Placement Students interested in pursuing credit for prior learning options should contact Assessment Services at 610-359-5322. Marple - 610-359-5322 www.dccc.edu/transfer-college A student who transfers to Delaware County Community College from another college or university can request the transfer of credits by sending an official transcript from their previous institution to the Records Office or through an electronic transcript service like Parchment or the National Student Clearinghouse to records@dccc.edu . The college cannot accept forwarded emails from a student as official transcripts. Current and former students may transfer a maximum of 36 credits to the College from an accredited institution towards an associate degree and half of the total credits required towards a certificate. Obtaining credit for prior learning may accelerate degree completion. Prior Learning Assessment advisors guide students in the identification and documentation of their learning as it relates to college courses and curricula in accordance with College policy. DSST credit is treated as transfer credit and is awarded only for a passing score on an exam. IB measures students' knowledge of the material covered in certain introductory college courses and its credit is treated as transfer credit and awarded only for a passing score on an exam.

Paramedic - Advanced Life Support, Associate in Applied Science (EMTP)prior_learning
PRIOR LEARNING Students who are currently certified Paramedics wishing to obtain the Paramedic – Advanced Life Support A.A.S. degree may be awarded 36 credits for prior learning by DCCC upon evaluation of current documentation as required by the Assessment Center. Students who are awarded the credit for prior learning will be required to take two three-credit Emergency Management and Planning (EMER) courses in lieu of EMS 100.

Transfer Credit for Work at Other Colleges and Universitiestransfer_credit
Transfer Credit for Work at Other Colleges and Universities Students enrolled at Delaware County Community College who previously attended another regionally accredited college may be eligible to receive transfer credit toward their community college degree. The following guidelines apply: Complete a Petition for Transfer of Credit Form. Forms are available online, in the Assessment Services Office, Room 4260 at the Marple Campus, and at the Student Services offices at all campus locations. Request that the college(s) attended send(s) an official transcript to the Records Office, Delaware County Community College, 901 South Media Line Road, Media, PA 19063- 1094. For Electronic Transcripts, Colleges, and Universities can send transcripts to records@dccc.edu . Students who have attended a college or university outside of the United States may be able to transfer credits into Delaware County Community College. To do so, students should have an official, English-translated transcript evaluated course-by-course by any member of NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) and have the evaluations sent to the Records office.

Transfer Credit Policy The College will accept coursework with grades of “D” or better from accredited institutions, but the grades for all credits selected for transfer must average at least 2.0 on a scale of 4.0. The acceptability of courses depends on the appropriateness of the courses to a given major, on their comparison to Delaware County Community College course competencies, and on the length of time since these course credits were earned. Current and former students may transfer to the College a maximum of 36 credits from other institutions towards an Associate Degree and half of the total credits required towards a certificate. For Paralegal programs, a maximum of 12 PLG (legal specialty) credits may be transferred in from an ABA accredited college or university. Delaware County Community College students may take a course at another college and have it transferred back to the College by completing a pre-approval form from Assessment Services to guarantee that the course taken will fulfill the Delaware County Community College course requirements. Pre-approval forms are located in Assessment Services or online at dccc.edu/transfer-college . After completing the course, an official transcript is sent to the College along with a completed Petition for Transfer of Credit form.

Transfer Evaluation Processtransfer_credit
The Assessment Services office is responsible for the evaluation of documents submitted for transfer credit, regardless of the source. Evaluators will also use DCCC’s College Academic Learning Goals (CALG) descriptions to determine if the transfer credit warrants one or more CALG designations.
