| transfer_credit | TRANSFER OF CREDIT AND PRIOR LEARNING ASSESSMENT At the discretion of PIA, transfer credit may be granted for comparable education completed at recognized institutions or training facilities when course content closely aligns with PIA’s curriculum. | 2026-2027 | pia.edu | |
| transfer_credit | Submission of Transcripts and Documentation All students seeking transfer credit must submit official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions attended at least 30 days before the start of classes, unless an alternate deadline is provided in writing by the Vice President of Education. If an official transcript is not submitted before the start of classes, no transfer credit will be awarded. Students must have earned a grade of “C” or higher in any course they wish to be considered for transfer credit. Technical coursework that is more than ten (10) years old may not qualify for transfer credit evaluation. Students who score below 71% on the Mathematics Skills Assessment (MSA) are not eligible to receive transfer credit for math coursework. Bypass Examination When course descriptions do not sufficiently align, PIA may require a bypass examination prior to awarding transfer credit. If the bypass examination is not completed by the deadline, no transfer credit will be awarded. Evaluation of Transfer Credit Once all required materials are evaluated, the student will receive an official transfer credit evaluation letter from the Vice President of Education indicating which credits, if any, will transfer to PIA. Transfer Credit Appeal Process Students must submit a written appeal within 15 days of receiving their transcript evaluation, including the coursework in question, reasons for reconsideration, and supporting documents (catalog, course descriptions, syllabi, etc.). | transfer_credit | Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics is a member of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Consortium. To be eligible for PLA, a student must be currently enrolled in a PIA degree or non-degree program and must provide acceptable verification of the prior learning. As the receiving institution, PIA is the sole authority in determining what prior learning or experience is acceptable for PLA credit. If the military training was earned as part of an accredited program, PIA may grant transfer credit as applicable. Accreditation of an institution does not guarantee that credits earned at that institution will be accepted for transfer. Articulation agreements vary in the amount of credit awarded and the conditions under which transfer credit may be granted. It is the student’s responsibility to review the transfer or articulation policies of the receiving institution and to determine whether credits earned at PIA will be accepted. Additional information regarding articulation agreements and transfer credit is available through the Office of the Vice President of Education. | 2026-2027 | pia.edu | |

If transfer credits are awarded, tuition will be calculated based on the number of enrolled credits. | 2026-2027 | pia.edu | |
| transfer_credit | Transfer Credit Equivalency Transfer credits and credits awarded through prior learning assessment apply toward total credits earned but are excluded from GPA and satisfactory academic progress (SAP) calculations. | 2026-2027 | pia.edu | |
| transfer_credit | Transfer of Credit Students who change programs will receive full credit for courses successfully completed in the original program when those courses are directly transferable to the new program. | 2026-2027 | pia.edu |
