| Transfer Credits | transfer_credit | Transfer Credits Students may choose whether or not to accept credit offered by the University for AP, IB or A-Level scores. Depending on the major, a student may want a stronger foundation in that field and may, therefore, decide to decline credit being offered. Entering students should discuss this with Advising. All accepted students who have taken courses at other institutions must have official transcripts sent to the Pitt-Bradford Office of the Registrar for review. The University will grant credit based on equvalencies, including expected learning outcomes, with those of the University curriculum and standards. Courses must have reasonable counterparts at the University. When requested, students are responsible for supplying descriptions and/or syllabi for courses taken elsewhere. Courses completed with grades of C or better may be eligible for transfer credit. Students are responsible for providing course descriptions and/or syllabi if requested. Credits earned at another institution through CLEP, through Advanced Placement tests, or through credit by examination will not be automatically accepted. The student must provide the original transcript or scores earned through the other institution or program. Quarter system credits will be converted to the equivalent semester credits (quarter system credits x 2/3 = semester system credits). Certain programs may invoke a statute of limitations. For example, course work with a scientific or technical basis will not be accepted by the Department of Nursing if eight or more years have elapsed since the course was completed. The maximum number of advanced standing credits applied toward completion of a degree may not exceed 75% of the credits needed for the degree. For example, if a degree requires 120 credits, a max of 90 credits would be accepted. Grades earned at other colleges are not included in the Pitt-Bradford GPA. Only the academic credit is transferred, never the grades. All transfer credits are subject to re-evaluation by the new school if a student transfers to another school or relocates to another Pitt campus. | 2026-2027 | catalog.upb.pitt.edu |
