| Advanced Standing Credit | prior_learning | Advanced Standing Credit This regulation establishes the criteria for the acceptance of advanced standing credits, which are credits toward a University of Pittsburgh degree or credential through mechanisms other than credits earned through course registration at the University. https://www.provost.pitt.edu/regulations-guidelines/advanced-standing-credits Advanced Placement (AP) The following information regarding Advanced Placement is unique to Pitt-Bradford. Students who plan to relocate to a different campus or school within the University of Pittsburgh should refer to that specific campus or school’s policy. Students who have participated in the | 2026-2027 | catalog.upb.pitt.edu |
| College Level Examination Program (CLEP) | prior_learning | Eligibility for CLEP credit is subject to the following conditions: Students are eligible for CLEP credit only if CLEP examinations are taken prior to the completion of 30 college credits, including transfer credits. | 2026-2027 | catalog.upb.pitt.edu |
| Evaluation of Transfer Credits | transfer_credit | Evaluation of Transfer Credits Credits earned at another accredited institution are evaluated by the Pitt-Bradford Registrar, which determines the number of advanced standing credits the transfer student will be awarded and the distribution of these credits in relation to the school’s degree requirements and University policy. For transfer equivalency details see our online information . Readmission Students who previously attended the University of Pittsburgh then attended other institutions and wish to return to the University are considered transfer students and must reapply following the guidelines for transfer students. Former University of Pittsburgh at Bradford students who have not attended another institution and have not attended Pitt-Bradford for three consecutive semesters and left in good academic standing may be readmitted after submitting a | 2026-2027 | catalog.upb.pitt.edu |
| Other Admission Criteria | transfer_credit | For EM Degree Completion students (Senior Transfers), proof of current paramedic certification or US SOCOM Advanced Tactical Paramedic must be provided to receive the advanced standing of 39 credits (this includes 4 credits of EMT). The awarding of 39 advanced standing credits limits the transfer of college credits to no more than 51 credits (including the required prerequisites and GE courses). | 2026-2027 | catalog.upb.pitt.edu |
| Prior Learning Credit | prior_learning | Prior Learning Credit The University may review college-level knowledge and skills you have gained outside of the classroom in order to evaluate if you could be awarded college credit for your experience. You must submit a College Assessment of Prior Learning Application along with documentation. This form and supporting documents will be evaluated by your academic advisor and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. You may contact Enrollment Services for the application. | 2026-2027 | catalog.upb.pitt.edu |
| Transfer Application Procedures | transfer_credit | Evaluation of Transfer Credits Transfer Re-admission Freshman Guarantees For Pitt Graduate/Professional Schools Through Pitt’s Regional Campuses Re-admission: Returning Students Student Right-to-Know Graduation Rate Disclosure First-Year Student Admissions Prospective students who have not earned college credits since graduating from high school with a diploma or GED should consult this section for information on admission. Transfer Student Admissions Prospective students who are high school graduates or GED holders and have attended postsecondary institutions, colleges, or universities (except those who took college classes while in high school / dual-enrollment and are considered first-year students with advanced standing) apply for admission as transfer students using the free online application Students transferring from another college or university must have completed a minimum of 12 college-level credits with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0. Transfer Application Procedures Transfer students who wish to be considered for admission to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford must complete the free online application , submit an official high school transcript or GED, and an official transcript from each postsecondary institution attended (whether or not it is intended that all courses will be counted toward a degree at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford). | 2026-2027 | catalog.upb.pitt.edu |
| Transfer Credits | transfer_credit | Transfer Credits Students may choose whether or not to accept credit offered by the University for AP, IB or A-Level scores. Depending on the major, a student may want a stronger foundation in that field and may, therefore, decide to decline credit being offered. Entering students should discuss this with Advising. All accepted students who have taken courses at other institutions must have official transcripts sent to the Pitt-Bradford Office of the Registrar for review. The University will grant credit based on equvalencies, including expected learning outcomes, with those of the University curriculum and standards. Courses must have reasonable counterparts at the University. When requested, students are responsible for supplying descriptions and/or syllabi for courses taken elsewhere. Courses completed with grades of C or better may be eligible for transfer credit. Students are responsible for providing course descriptions and/or syllabi if requested. Credits earned at another institution through CLEP, through Advanced Placement tests, or through credit by examination will not be automatically accepted. The student must provide the original transcript or scores earned through the other institution or program. Quarter system credits will be converted to the equivalent semester credits (quarter system credits x 2/3 = semester system credits). Certain programs may invoke a statute of limitations. For example, course work with a scientific or technical basis will not be accepted by the Department of Nursing if eight or more years have elapsed since the course was completed. The maximum number of advanced standing credits applied toward completion of a degree may not exceed 75% of the credits needed for the degree. For example, if a degree requires 120 credits, a max of 90 credits would be accepted. Grades earned at other colleges are not included in the Pitt-Bradford GPA. Only the academic credit is transferred, never the grades. All transfer credits are subject to re-evaluation by the new school if a student transfers to another school or relocates to another Pitt campus. | 2026-2027 | catalog.upb.pitt.edu |
