8261 Research in Biblical Theology This independent research is guided by faculty supervision. In this course, a directed study, the student will investigate an interpretive problem in the books of Judges and Ruth that pertains to the issues of rhetorical strategy and biblical theology. Among other things, attention will be given to the contribution of intertextuality (inner-biblical exegesis) to a biblical theology of Ruth. 4 credit hours. 8266 Exposition of Proverbs This OT exposition course will thoroughly investigate the book of Proverbs in its Old Testament wisdom setting. Special attention will be paid to the genres and literary forms of the proverbs within their ancient Near Eastern background and canonical wisdom backdrop, the structure of the book of Proverbs, the social setting of proverbial collections in ancient Israel, the major themes of Proverbs, and the theology of Proverbs within its biblical- theological context with a view toward aiding the student to interpret, apply, and teach/preach the book more accurately and effectively. 4 credit hours. 8267 Exposition of Romans This course will examine the structure and content of the Romans letter and aggressively digest the course theological themes of Paul's thoughts.
