MS 109Introduction to the Army1
MS 109 focuses on Introduction to the Army and basic Soldier skills. Cadets receive an introduction to the Army Profession and examine what it means to be a professional in the U.S. Army, committed to the ideal that America and its founding documents remain the most powerful force for good in human history. The overall focus is on developing basic knowledge and comprehension of the Army Leadership Requirements Model (LRM) while gaining a complete understanding of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program, its purpose in the Army, and its advantages for the student. Cadets also begin learning map reading and land navigation, and have initial classes on fieldcraft, first aid, and team building. Cadets will participate in weekly physical readiness training (PRT) sessions planned and conducted by MS IV cadets and cadre. Cadets will attend one field training exercise during the semester where they will focus on the practical application of the skills learned in the course. No lab is associated with this course.
MS 110 introduces Cadets to the personal challenges and competencies that are critical for effective leadership. Cadets learn the importance of personal development in life skills such as critical thinking, resilience, holistic health and fitness, and communication process. Cadets receive awareness training in Antiterrorism and introductory classes in tactics beginning with Team and Squad Basic Components, Basic Movements, Basic Patrolling, and Battle Drills that will be the foundation throughout their military careers. Cadets will participate in weekly physical readiness training (PRT) sessions planned and conducted by MS IV cadets and cadre. Cadets will attend one field training exercise during the semester where they will focus on the practical application of the skills learned in the course. No lab is associated with this course.
The course adds depth to the Cadets’ knowledge of the different leadership styles. Cadets will conduct a leadership analysis of famous leaders and self-assessment of their own leadership style. The Army Profession is presented through the understanding of Cultural Awareness, Values, Ethics, and how to apply them to different situations they may encounter as leaders. Army Values and Ethics and their relationship to the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) and philosophy of military service are presented through video clips and historical vignettes followed by small group discussions. Cadets will participate in weekly physical readiness training (PRT) sessions planned and conducted by MS IV cadets and cadre. Cadets will attend one field training exercise during the semester where they will focus on the practical application of the skills learned in the course. No lab is associated with this course.
The course begins with Cadets gaining an insight to analytical techniques, creative thinking skills and the Army problem solving process as related to situations faced by leaders. Instruction on Troop Leading Procedures and Operations Orders will lead Cadets to an understanding of Army Doctrine and Symbology. Squad tactics are covered in classes on Multidomain Operations, Offensive Operations and Defensive Operations. Cadets will participate in weekly physical readiness training (PRT) sessions planned and conducted by MS IV cadets and cadre. Cadets will attend one field training exercise during the semester where they will focus on the practical application of the skills learned in the course. No lab is associated with this course.
MS 319 for seeking/commissioning cadets or LS 350 for non-commissioning cadets. Failure to take the appropriate lab will result in a grade of F in the ROTC course.
MS 310Leadership in Small Unit Operations2
MS 310 focuses on applied leadership in small unit operations. It is an academically challenging course where Cadets study, practice, and apply the fundamentals of direct level leadership and small unit tactics at the platoon level. At the conclusion of this course, Cadets are capable of planning, coordinating, navigating, motivating and leading a platoon in the execution of a mission. It includes one lab per week, using peer facilitation overseen by ROTC Cadre. Successful completion of this course will help prepare commissioning Cadets for Cadet Summer Training/Advanced Camp at Fort Knox, KY.
MS 320 for seeking/commissioning cadets or LS 351 for non-commissioning cadets. Failure to take the appropriate lab will result in a grade of F in the ROTC course.
MS 319Lab for MS 3090
The MS Lab focuses on the practical application of the subjects taught in the classroom during MS 309 . Cadets will meet rigorous leadership challenges, reinforced by consistent instructor evaluation and mentorship. Leadership exercises will include tactical scenarios as well as the development and delivery of small group instruction for other cadets. This extensive training program also includes physical fitness, marksmanship, land navigation, drill and ceremonies, mission planning, and written and oral communication skills. Cadets are required to participate in one field training exercise each semester, in which they will practice both leadership and teamwork and demonstrate their tactical and technical proficiency. This laboratory course companions the MS 309 class, and all contracted cadets must take the appropriate lab section simultaneously with this class each semester (non-contracted cadets who do not seek a commission will enroll in LS 350 ).

Emphasis is on the practical knowledge and skills that cadets will need as commissioned officers and Army platoon leaders. Cadets will practice training management and subordinate development through regular interaction with underclass MS cadets. They will have numerous opportunities to exercise collective leadership reinforced by consistent instructor mentorship. Through collective training, they will also maintain their basic military skills throughout the year. Cadets are required to participate in one field training exercise each semester, in which they will play an active role in planning and conducting training for all MS cadets. These laboratory courses are companions to the MS 409 classes, and all contracted cadets must take the appropriate lab section simultaneously with those classes each semester.

MS 420Advanced MS Lab for MS 4100

Emphasis is on the practical knowledge and skills that cadets will need as commissioned officers and Army platoon leaders. MS 429The Army Officer2
MS 429 focuses on the development of an Army Officer. It is an academically challenging course where you will develop knowledge, skills, and abilities required of junior officers in the Army. Cadets will learn to plan, resource, and assess training at the small unit level using the Training Management Process. At the conclusion of this course, Cadets will be familiar with the Operations Process and Planning, conducting Unit Training, Multidomain Operations, and Unit Readiness.
MS 430 is an academically challenging course where Cadets develop knowledge, skills, and abilities required of junior officers pertaining to unit level leader roles and responsibilities. Cadets learn about Army programs that support Soldiers and Families, counseling subordinates, evaluating performance, values and ethics, career planning, and legal responsibilities. Successful completion of this course will assist in preparing Cadets BOLC B.
