Description
SUNY Broome’s Health Information Technology program is a two-year CAHIIM accredited program that prepares students for a career in health information management. Graduates will earn an Associate in Applied Science ( A.A.S.) degree, and be eligible upon completion of the program to sit for the nationally recognized Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credentialing exam. This fully online program (with the exception of the Professional Practice Experience in your final semester) can accommodate working and part-time student schedules. Health Information professionals play a critical role in maintaining and analyzing the data that healthcare providers rely on to deliver quality care. They are experts in managing patient health information and medical records, HIPAA Privacy and Security standards, reimbursement and research, and coding the diagnoses and procedures for healthcare services provided to patients. Health Information Management (HIM) professionals work in a multitude of settings throughout the healthcare industry with opportunities for advancement.
