MAGN 101Elementary Algebra3
Apply foundational arithmetic skills and use key properties, terminology, and vocabulary of the real number system to solve mathematical problems. Solve linear equations and inequalities in one variable and manipulate literal equations in applied contexts. Use integer exponents; perform operations on polynomials; and factor expressions. Interpret and graph linear equations using appropriate mathematical tools. Prerequisite: SKLS 091 (C or better) or equivalent, or placement into MAGN 101 or MAGN 107. 3 credits (3 lecture hours), fall or spring semester. This course satisfies the Liberal Arts and Sciences requirement.

MAGN 107Mathematical Literacy3
Develop ability to recall and interpret foundational mathematical concepts essential for informed decision-making in everyday life. Emphasis is placed on applying number sense, proportional reasoning, algebraic thinking, data interpretation, and mathematical modeling to real-world problems. Students will analyze quantitative information, evaluate models and methods, and construct logical arguments in contexts such as personal finance, healthcare, environmental issues, and civic responsibility through collaborative problem-solving and class discussions, designed to promote critical thinking and effective communication of quantitative reasoning. Prerequisite: SKLS 091 or equivalent, or placement into MAGN 101 or MAGN 107. 3 credits (3 lecture hours), fall or spring semester. This course satisfies the Liberal Arts and Sciences requirement.
