Between 2008 and 2010, VGCC opened four Early College high schools — one at each VGCC campus –in partnership with local public school systems, becoming the first community college in the United States to collaborate on four such high schools.

College Transfer (CTP)-The College Transfer Pathway is designed for high school juniors and seniors who wish to begin study toward an Associate degree and a baccalaureate degree.

The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) and the Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (ICAA) enables North Carolina community college graduates of two-year associate in arts programs who are admitted to constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina and to Signatory Institutions of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities to transfer with junior status.

The transfer pathways are a structured set of courses in the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) between the University of North Carolina (UNC) and the North Carolina Community College System, leading to completion of the Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Teacher Preparation or Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts degree.
