This course covers the operation, inspection, and service of braking systems. Students will perform removal and replacement of brake components, including pads, shoes, rotors, and drums, as well as hydraulic system service and bleeding procedures. Instruction also includes basic diagnosis of brake concerns and service of power assist and electronic braking systems. Students will perform removal and replacement of components such as shocks, struts, springs, control arms, and steering linkages using proper tools and service information. Emphasis is placed on vehicle alignment procedure and vehicle setup and racking. Students will perform tasks typically assigned to entry-level technicians, including driveline inspections, universal joint replacement, axle and CV shaft service, differential maintenance, transfer case service, and basic driveline diagnosis.
