Mathematics & Computer Science Department The Mathematics and Computer Science programs at Carson-Newman University offer complementary pathways for students interested in analytical and technological fields. The Mathematics Program, located on the first level of Dougherty Science Center with facilities including a computer center, provides students the opportunity to join Kappa Mu Epsilon, the national mathematics honor society, upon meeting requirements of second semester sophomore standing, ranking in the upper 35% of their class, and completing at least three college mathematics courses (including calculus) with a 3.00 overall average in mathematics. Meanwhile, the Computer Science program prepares students as leaders in today's rapidly changing global technology environment by developing skills in both the theory and application of computer technology, offering options to customize the major to individual career goals and creating opportunities for tomorrow's job market. The Computer Science program is located on the first level of Dougherty Science Center with classes primarily taught in the Dougherty Science Center and in Ted Russell Hall.
