This course is designed to serve as an introduction to the world of Biblical Studies in the Pentecostal Tradition. After an overview of the development of Pentecostal hermeneutics as an academic discipline and a preliminary survey of early scholarly Pentecostal approaches to Biblical Studies the bulk of the course is devoted to examples from each part of the Biblical canon of constructive Pentecostal sources to specific books, texts, and/or topics. The work of individual scholars is examined and opportunities are provided for interaction with significant contributors to this emerging discipline. The course concludes with a conversation about the future of Biblical Studies in the Pentecostal tradition. The seminar is required for all students pursuing the MTS Biblical Studies Concentration.
