However, for students who have decelerated from one South College campus (originating campus) and wish to transfer to another South College campus (receiving campus), the following policy applies: Eligibility: Students who have decelerated from the DPT program at one South College campus may apply to transfer to another South College campus. Application Process: Decelerated students must submit a formal request to the DPT Program Directors for both the originating and receiving campuses, including: A letter explaining the reasons for deceleration and desire to transfer campuses A letter specifically addressing the student’s adherence to professional conduct standards Review Process: The DPT Program Director and Director of Admissions at the receiving campus will review the student’s application, academic history, and deceleration plan, if applicable. Application deadline for this PA class is March 1, 2027. CASPA Application Supplemental Application A supplemental application is required of ALL applicants to the South College PA Program. This is in addition to the CASPA application. Your application to South College is not complete, and cannot be processed until we receive your supplemental application. There is a $95 application fee. Students will need to submit supplemental applications and pay the associated fees for each campus they apply to. *There is a $95 application fee (made out to South College) that must accompany the supplemental application. Get Started – Supplemental Application Program Requirements 1. Completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in the United States, prior to matriculation. Advantage: Master’s degree holders will receive higher standing. 2. Documentation of the following – Overall college GPA of a minimum of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, overall science GPA of a minimum of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, and completion of all prerequisite coursework with a cumulative GPA of a minimum of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Scoring will be assigned on a graduated scale. Advantage: higher overall GPAs will receive higher standing within the admission process. 3. It is preferred applicants obtain patient care experience/shadowing. No minimum required, but higher hours receive higher standing. 4. Completion of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or Physician Assistant College Admission Test (PA-CAT) are required for your application to be processed. The GRE code for South College Nashville CASPA is: South College Nashville: 4148 . For the PA-CAT, log in to your account and share your scores with South College-Nashville. (Each section of these exams are evaluated separately. Scoring will be assigned on a graduated scale; higher scores will be assigned higher standing). GRE and PA-CAT scores expire after 5 years. 5. Three Letters of Recommendation – one letter must be from one of these specific Health Care Providers: Physician Assistant (PA), Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or Nurse Practitioner (NP). (Applicants are considered more competitive if they are determined by the evaluator to have “Excellent” marks on their reference evaluations.) 6. Each applicant is required to compose a personal statement on CASPA expressing his or her desire to become a Physician Assistant. Each personal statement will be reviewed and scored, based on the following: Grammar, Clarity of Expression, Creativity, Understanding of PA role and expressed interest in primary care and/or underserved populations. 7. Successful completion of Strongly Suggested Courses ( Genetics, Immunology, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry) will assist in competitiveness if a letter grade of A or B is achieved. Selection for the Physician Assistant program is very competitive. It is anticipated that the successful applicant will generally exceed the minimum criteria for consideration for admission. All official transcripts, GRE Scores (Nashville Code 4148), and letters of reference are sent directly to CASPA as part of the application process. | Credit by Examination (Challenge Exams) | prior_learning | Credit by Examination (Challenge Exams) South College offers students an opportunity to obtain credit in areas of competency through college administered challenge examinations in limited areas. The Chief Academic Officer, in consultation with the academic department, is the final authority on whether or not a course may be exempted through the examination process. Skill courses, such as computer and medical lab courses, are reviewed on an individual basis. To be eligible to earn credit, the student must Submit a completed Request for Challenge Examination form signed by all appropriate parties at the designated campus. All challenge examinations must be completed within the first two quarters of attendance unless permission is granted by the Dean/Department Chair. Verify that he or she has not previously taken the course at South College. Verify that he or she is not currently enrolled in the course at South College. Pay a $100 examination fee for all approved exams Challenge examinations are administered electronically via arranged time with the test administrator. Students may attempt to earn credit by examination for a course only once, must score the appropriate score determined by their academic department to receive credit, and must complete all challenge exams within their first two quarters of attendance unless permission otherwise is granted by the Dean/Department Chair. Students who do not earn the minimum required score on any challenge exam must take the course as required in the curriculum. Credits earned by examination are considered in the same way as transfer credits and are not used in the computation of the student’s grade point average.
