IMT 124Metal Repair and Fabrication4

This course provides students with the fundamentals of layout, cutting, forming, and fabrication of sheet metal. Students will be provided classroom lectures blended with laboratory exercises, using contemporary tools and equipment to complete assigned projects by measuring and calculating the amounts of materials required to complete a project. Students will also perform extensive brazing of copper tubing,. Students are taught to cut, thread, and join iron pipe for gas systems.

IMT 138Pumps and Fluid Control4

This course provides students with the design, selection, operation, and maintenance of pumps while differentiating the types of pumps used in industry. Students will gain familiarity with various fluid systems such as water, hydraulic, fuel, and oil. The course also offers students the knowledge of valve types used for fluid control, their construction, and the theory of operation for each valve type. Preventive and corrective maintenance procedures will be taught using technical documentation and associated tools in a laboratory environment.

IMT 231Hydraulics and Pneumatics4

This course provides students with the fundamentals of hydraulics and pneumatics. Students learn basic hydraulic components, theory of operation, and their function in a hydraulic and pneumatic circuit. Also, students will learn to interpret hydraulic schematics, use test and measuring equipment, and use tools to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on these systems in a laboratory environment. IMT 245Material Handling and Conveyance4

This course provides students with the purpose, fundamentals, and theory of operation of Material Handling Equipment (MHE), equipment sensors, and system safety devices. Students learn how belt-driven conveyors, chain-driven conveyors, and associated drive control systems are designed and operated. Motor fundamentals, theory of operation, and applications will be presented to students. Preventive and corrective maintenance on MHE using technical documents as well as test and measuring equipment. Students will perform bearing replacement and motor alignment in a laboratory setting.
