Theory Credits = 3 Total credits 101, NUR 102 The purpose of this course is to examine pharmacotherapeutic agents used in the treatment of illnesses and the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of wellness in diverse individuals across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on the principles of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenetics and safety in the treatment of selected illnesses. The focus is on the nursing process, nursing implications of the selected and related drugs, and the role of a nurse in the legal and ethical aspects of drug administration, including patient teaching and medication calculations for oral and parenteral drugs.
