A checklist is the list of requirements to complete this program and receive the award, as the college publishes it in its catalog. It is the same for everyone. It does not say what you have completed; that comes from applying your own record.

- Description
- Associate in Applied Science HEGIS #5649 Department Chairperson: Dr. Elizabeth Yanoff Higbee Hall, Room 102, (518) 629-7250 The Early Childhood and Childhood Education Studies A.S. program is designed to provide students with knowledge, skills and theory that will prepare them for transfer to a four-year institution with New York state teacher certification authority. Curriculum areas include: SUNY General Education courses, subject area concentration courses, introductory education courses and other required core courses related to the early childhood and childhood education curriculum. This program is designed to prepare students for transfer to classroom teacher preparation programs in the areas of early childhood education (Birth-grade 2) and childhood education (grades 1-6) with middle school extension (grades 7-9 subject area) at four-year institutions. Students who plan carefully can normally be expected to transfer to a four-year institution as juniors. The transfer institutions may have different requirements. Students should plan their programs with a transfer counselor and an academic advisor as soon as possible and preferably before beginning their first semester at Hudson Valley. Successful transfer to an education program at the four-year college level will be contingent upon students meeting the four-year college’s admissions criteria, including a minimum GPA required by that institution. Program/Certificate Entrance Requirements: Courses Entry Term Notes High School Average Algebra and geometry or 2 units of equivalent academic math and 1 unit of any lab science Fall and Spring Students seeking a concentration in math must meet prerequisites for the math and courses as listed in the concentration. 78 or above
