A checklist is the list of requirements to complete this program and receive the award, as the college publishes it in its catalog. It is the same for everyone. It does not say what you have completed; that comes from applying your own record.

- Description
- . Each discipline draws from both social sciences and the humanities, to examine the variety of human experience, in our country, around the world, and through time. History is the study of change over time; p olitical science is the study of power in society; international studies draws on many disciplines to understand international relations and transnational forces. In all of these majors and minors, debating contemporary issues, learning to do research, and writing persuasively prepares students for successful careers. History Political Science International Studies Social Studies Education HISTORY The History major prepares students to understand and engage in the world around them, whether at home or abroad. Students take courses across multiple geographic regions and historical eras, learning the ability to step into other people's shoes and see the world through their experiences. We think carefully and with nuance about change over time, as well as causes and effects. You learn to find and analyze data, then argue persuasively based on the evidence. These are important skills for all members of society, as well as any future career, from business to government to academia. Students frequently engage in guided research and pursue other opportunities related to their individual interests.
