High school students are encouraged to explore the option for the Nursing Advantage program. Applications may be submitted between April 1 - May 1. Late applications are not accepted. Applications are blinded and reviewed by the Nursing Department to ensure all requirements are met. Qualified applicants are then assigned points based on the following criteria: Overall Wingate GPA; Science GPA (including transfer credits); Math GPA (including transfer credits); TEAS Score; Final HETH 210 Grade; Institutional Credits (pre-requisite courses taken at Wingate University); Active CNA Certification (listed on the CNA Registry) at time of application Points are then tabulated and ranked highest to lowest and open seats are filled in that order. Students who do not earn a seat will be placed on the wait-list. Wait-listed students may reapply the following year and will be considered first for admission as long as all requirements are met. In addition to tuition and room and board, the nursing program assesses lab fees for all clinical courses. These fees help cover the cost of lab supplies & maintenance. Additionally the program uses required software for curriculum support and computer-based exams. Fees are not refunded if a student withdraws or does not pass a course. Students will be required to supply their own transportation to and from all clinical agencies. This grading scale is consistent with other nursing programs within NC. Grades are only rounded once, at the end of a course. A 93% - 100% B 85% - 92% C (Minimum Pass) 77% - 84% D Below 77% F Below 69% Individuals who are seeking Licensure by Examination in the state of North Carolina, must have a valid Social Security number to be issued a license to practice nursing. No license will be issued until proof of the Social Security number is submitted to the North Carolina Board of Nursing. See ncbon.com for more details. The BSN Program provides over 700 hours of clinical credit across the lifespan and various clinical arenas, meeting initial licensure requirements in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Refer to the NCSBN.org for licensure requirements by state. Enrollment in a Wingate University Levine College of Health Sciences program requires current and appropriate legal immigration status with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services of the United States Department of Homeland Security. Current and appropriate legal immigration statuses include United States citizenship, United States lawful permanent residence, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and other legal immigration statuses that allow participation in lawful study at Wingate University and employment authorization in the United States. Applicants must demonstrate current and appropriate legal immigration status to Wingate University authorities. Many programs require clinical placements at third party health care facilities as a graduation requirement. Although Wingate University uses its best efforts to place all students in a clinical setting, Wingate University cannot guarantee that the third party health care facility will permit students without U.S. citizenship or permanent residency to complete their training at the facility. Additionally, postgraduate employment in the United States in health sciences occupations normally requires that applicants pass national exams, obtain state licensure, and demonstrate authorization for employment in the United States. Criteria for eligibility for national exams and/or to qualify for state licensure are set by national boards and each state. Some state boards, including North Carolina as of June 2026, now require a social security verification for licensure. It is the responsibility of each prospective Levine College of Health Sciences student to consult the requirements of national boards and the licensing authority in each state in which they plan to pursue employment to determine the qualifications for licensure and their eligibility to become licensed. National and state licensure requirements are subject to change. Our students gain valuable hands-on experience by working within the local communities in hospitals, mental health facilities, end of life care, home health care, public school systems, community health, corrections nursing, nursing homes and wound care. Students participate in poverty simulation, community clinics, public school clinics, health fairs, and a variety of community outreach opportunities and small individual lab experiences. Students also participate in interprofessional learning through educational experiences with other health sciences majors across the University (pharmacy, PT, OT, Social Work, PA, Counseling, & Public health). Global educational experiences are also available through the W’International program.0103www.wingate.edu

As a transfer student, you will need to provide your official academic records from previous colleges and universities you attended. We complete a transfer evaluation. It shows what classes you completed before transfer and what credits you receive upon transfer. To view our transfer policy by institution, please click here. If you want to receive AP credit or CLEP credit, we will need your official scores from the College Board. Have all of your records sent to the Office of Admissions. The Office of Admissions forwards your academic records to the Office of the Registrar for an official transfer evaluation. We then determine how the credits you earned at another college translate into Wingate University credit. If you need help with your transfer credit evaluation, contact the Office of the Registrar: registrar@wingate.edu (704) 233-8006 All North Carolina community colleges share a common course numbering system. The NCCC Transfer Guide contains a lengthy list of courses. It indicates how many Wingate University credits a student transferring from a NCCC receives for each course. To help you understand the transfer guide, we have a selected examples below. From left to right, each line indicates a NCCC course number and a NCCC course name. Next is the equivalent Wingate University course and the number of Wingate University credit hours received for that course. Individual departments may consider accepting IB credit if the student earns a minimum score of 5 on a higher-level examination. A copy of the syllabus for each subject passed at this level must be submitted to the appropriate department. Please contact the Office of the Registrar if you have questions about transferring your college credits to a Wingate University degree program. AP Credit CLEP Credit DANTES Credit0032www.wingate.edu
