This course covers the theory of operation of the heavy-duty truck differentials and drive lines. Students will learn how the differential is used to transfer energy to the wheels of the vehicle. Students will be trained in the theory of transferring engine power to the final drive of the vehicle utilizing the drive shaft. All components of this system will be described and the operation of each will be explained. This includes competency-based tasks on overhaul, service and troubleshooting of the rear differentials and drive shafts.
