TELE 001Wireless Communication Fundamentals
Introduces the student to the basic concepts, equipment, and functionality of Wireless/Cellular and RF systems. Site location considerations and closeout requirements are also discussed. Topics consist of wireless systems including cellular methods; basic RF systems including simplex and duplex systems; functi onality of equipment utilized for cellular and RF systems including radios, antennas, coaxial cables, fiber optics and related components; difficulties associated with various communication site locations; closeout site documentation and the submittal requirements of these items to the customer. 40 Clock Hours
Familiarizes the student with basic concepts of first aid, CPR, and construction safety. Topics consist of the Red Cross Basic First Aid and CPR course including AED; b asic construction safety practices, a 30 hour course required by OSHA for all crew members working in the communication industry. 40 Clock Hours

Provides the student with an opportunity to observe and perform the daily duties and activities of a Telecommunications Tec hnician. The student will demonstrate and receive critique on their technical knowledge and hands-on skills acquired in the classroom. Students will be exposed to real-world maintenance issues and given the opportunity to troubleshoot equipment failures. 80 Clock hours.
Introduces the student to tower assembly and erection practices and principles. Topics include the assembl y and erection of Monopole, Self-Supporting, and Gu y Wire Towers; Installation, adjustment and plumb settings of guy wires; Tensioning and replacement of guy wires. 40 clock hours.
Introduces the student to Microsoft Office programs necessary for the completion of of required wo rk assignments in the wireless industry. Topics include an overview of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook. 40 Clock hours.
Provides the student with an extensive knowledge of fiber optics technology and application. Topics include F iber Optic Communication and Transmission Systems; Optic al Fiber and Fiber Optic Cables; Fiber Optic Testing; Fiber Optic Connectors and Splicing; Network Design and Installation. 80 Clock hours.
Provides the student with additional field training in the daily duties and activities of a Telecommunications Technician. The student will demonstrate competence in the technical knowledge and han ds-on skills acquired in both the classroom and field. Students will be given the opportunity to improve their troubleshooting expertise on issues of increasing complexity. 80 Clock hours.

Introduces the student to site foundations. Topics to include bollards, h-frames, generator, sh elter, gravity pad, turn down foot ing and various additional tower foundations based on Geo-Tech studies. 24 Clock Hours.
Introduces the student to power/telco support frames and conduit. Topics include the proper des ign and installation of support fr ames; NEC conduit requirements for power, telco and fiber protection. 16 Clock hours.
