(s) Surveys books of the Old Testament, with emphasis on prophetic historical books. Examines the historical and geographical setting and place of the Israelites in the ancient Middle East as background to the writings. Lecture 3 hours per week.

(s) Introduces the major religions of the world: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Focuses on origins, history, basic beliefs, values, ethics, and practices. This is a Passport Transfer course and UCGS transfer course. Lecture 3 hours per week.
