| credit_by_exam | Credit will be awarded for a score of 50 or above on a CLEP Subject Examination that is at or above the mean score achieved by students in the national norms sample who earned a grade of “C’’ in a regular college course in the subject. | 2026 | rockinghamcc.edu | |
| transfer_credit | Calculation Denominator: Students with an Associate Degree or at least 30 articulated transfer credits enrolled during the fall and spring semesters at a four‐year institution who were enrolled at a community college during the previous academic year. Note: Community colleges are allowed to supplement data with results from out of state institutions with which they have articulation agreements. Will transition to 2.25 next year.) Additional Details UNC‐GA matched the records of community college students receiving an Associate Degree during the academic year or accumulating at least 30 articulated college transfer credit hours against subsequent fall and spring UNC system student records to determine transfer enrollment at a North Carolina public university and first year academic performance. | 2026 | rockinghamcc.edu | |

| transfer_credit | Students often bring to the admission process copies of unofficial transcripts that may possibly be used for advising purposes, but until official transcripts are received, no review of potential transfer credit will occur. Only courses with a letter grade (A, B, or C) and earned hours are eligible for credit; no credit is awarded for courses graded as Pass, Satisfactory, or the equivalent. | 2026 | rockinghamcc.edu | |
| prior_learning | Credit through Education, Testing, and Other Educational Experiences Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) is awarded for college-level learning. CPL encompasses knowledge, skills, and competencies students have obtained as a result of their prior learning experiences. All prior learning assessed for credit must meet or exceed “C” level work. There may be instances where accreditation, credentialing, licensure, or other external agency criteria prohibit Rockingham Community College from awarding prior learning course credit for a course within the college or from another community college within the System. In accordance with the NCCCS Credit for Prior Learning Policy, requests for prior learning credit are reviewed based on the following applicable criteria specified. A student who completes the challenge exam and achieves the required predetermined minimum score (equivalent to a grade C or higher) is awarded institutional credit for the course. The faculty of record submits a grade of CE (credit by examination) for the course for students who test at or above the predetermined minimum score for the examination and credit is awarded for the specified course as hours earned on the student’s transcript. | 2026 | rockinghamcc.edu | |
| prior_learning | II. Continuing Education (non-credit) to Curriculum Credit (credit) Only pre-approved North Carolina Community College System non-credit courses are eligible for curriculum credit articulation. No more than 50% of the required credits for a degree, diploma, or certificate may be earned with continuing education coursework articulated to curriculum credit unless otherwise approved by the Vice President for Academic Affairs; a minimum of 50% of the credential must be earned by completing curriculum college credit courses at Rockingham Community College. To be eligible for articulation of credit, students must: 1. Earn a grade of S (successful completion/completed course with a C or better) in the pre-approved non-credit course at Rockingham Community College; 2. | A. Transfer of Credits | transfer_credit | A. Transfer of Credits The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) establishes the procedures governing the transfer of credits for students who transfer from a North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) institution to a University of North Carolina ( U N C ) System institution. The CAA does not address admission to a specific institution or to a specific major within an institution. Eligibility To be eligible for the transfer of credits under the CAA, the student must graduate from the community college with an Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Science (AS) degree and have an overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and a grade of "C" or better in all CAA courses. Students who do not complete the degree are eligible to transfer credits on a course-by-course basis. Definition of General Education Courses and Pre-major Courses The Associate in Arts (AA) and Associate in Science (AS) degree programs in the North Carolina Community College System require a total of sixty or sixty-one semester hours credit for graduation (see Appendix F) and are transferable to any UNC institution. The overall total is comprised of both lower- division general education and pre-major courses. This curriculum reflects the distribution of discipline areas commonly included in institution-wide, lower-division general education requirements for the baccalaureate degree. The AA and AS degree programs include general education requirements that represent the fundamental foundation for success and include study in the areas of English composition, communications, humanities and fine arts, natural sciences and mathematics, and social and behavioral sciences. Within these discipline areas, community colleges must include opportunities for the achievement of competence in reading, writing, oral communication, fundamental mathematical skills, and basic computer use. Students must meet the receiving university's foreign language and/or health and physical education requirements, if applicable, prior to or after transfer to a UNC System institution. The AA and AS degree programs of study are structured to include two components: 6 | 2026 | rockinghamcc.edu |
