BIOL 1314Field Biology4

A biology course with a research component. Some labs meet on-campus and others will require travel off-campus to nearby field sites. Through lab, fieldwork, and an overnight field trip, students learn to use ecological research equipment and sampling protocols to answer questions about our environment. Topics include botany, forestry, wildlife (fish, birds, mammals, and invertebrates), water and soil quality, and microbiology. Labs are taught in partnership with local environmental agencies including Boone County Extension and National Park Service. Several labs are devoted to independent research projects. Offered during summer session only. Lecture 2 hours and lab 3 hours per week. Pre/Co-requisites Pre- or co- req: BIOL 1014 or BIOL 1144 or CHEM 1214 or higher.
