HLTSC 310/310L Anatomy 115

This course is designed to build on basic informa- crs tion that the student has been exposed to in other science courses It is necessary for the student to have a working knowledge of basic anatomical term- inology, and the basic cytology and histology per- tinent to the human organism from the start of this course The activities in this course will present a relatively detailed description of peripheral systems, the musculoskeletal, peripheral nervous, and pen- pheral circulatory systems found in the lower extremities and deep back region of the human body In addition to the peripheral systems a detailed account of the contents of the abdominal and pelvic cavities will be presented to the student The course consists of both a lecture and a required laboratory component Lecture sessions will pre- sent, for the purpose of discussion, information per- taining to the organization of various peripheral systems, how the components of the peripheral sys- tems relate to each other in specific regions of the body, and information pertaining to various ana- torrucal topics related to the contents of the major cavities of the human body The laboratory provides the students the unique and indispensable oppor- turuty to study human anatomy by dissecting human cadavers The students, with the guidance of faculty^ are responsible for dissecting the labora- tory specimens An effort will be made to assist the participants in the course to utilize the information presented in both lecture and laboratory sessions to solve clinically relevant questions Prerequisites HLTSC 305 and HLTSC 307/307L
