The general objective of this course is to familiarize students with the sounds and the letters of Arabic, along with basic communication skills. Students are required to use Arabic in class discussion. Attendance and class participation are necessary to achieve the above-stated goals. Continuation of ARAB 001. Emphasis on communicative ability in oral and writing skills and use of the language. Students develop ability to communicate with native speakers on a variety of everyday topics; introductions, descriptions of people and things, disseminating information, stating preferences, describing locations, etc. Students will be able to read, write, speak, and understand authentic materials on familiar topics, as well as recognize and understand various grammatical rules and their application in context, and expand their cultural awareness.
