3 credits – Fall Only Students examine diverse works of children’s literature as an art form and explore the ways that literature supports children's linguistic, cognitive, and emotional development. Students critically analyze common texts from various genres of literature for children across cultures, both fiction and nonfiction, from a variety of authors and time periods. Students also investigate creative uses for children’s literature in preschool, primary, and middle school settings. Prerequisite:
