This course studies the organizational structures, types of governance, and management issues in the American health care system. Topics to be examined include Introduction to Healthcare Systems; Managing Healthcare Services, Organizations, and Systems; Healthcare Environments; Administrative Responsibilities and Structures; and Function and Roles of Professional and Non- Professional Staff.
This course will provide a basic understanding of health care law by examining the legal issues facing healthcare administrators and health care professionals in today’s society. Current legislation and regulatory issues will be explored along with ethical questions relating to health care and law.
HC 301FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT IN THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY3
This course will address the basics of financial management in healthcare organizations including accounting, cost analysis, managing financial resources, and other management tools. Budget development and FTE allocation will be addressed along with federal and state regulations.

The focus of this course will be on exposure to the management of information to support decision-making, communication, and strategic planning. These include systems for managing human resources, improving quality of care and tracking organizational metrics.
