FA 315Careers in the Fine Arts3
This course will introduce students to the wide array of career opportunities available in the performing arts, and provide an understanding of standard business practices in the fields of feature film, television, Broadway and Off-Broadway Theatre, professional tours, not-for-profit performing arts organizations, concert tours, and televised events. Special emphasis will be given to career strategies for the dramatic artist. Each student will develop a professional resume/headshot/portfolio and participate in a mock interview/audition at the end of the course. Research outside of class will be required.
This course introduces students to the principles and applications of color, from mixing and harmonies to psychological and cultural meanings. Through hands-on studio exercises and theatre-focused projects, students will learn to use color effectively in paintings, design, costumes, lighting, and stage setting.
This course instructs students in the various skills and techniques of creating an audio album including recording, editing, mixing, mastering, album art, branding, distribution, and promotion. This course is intended for students of any discipline with or without prior audio engineering experience.
This course is dedicated to studying the history of Musical Theatre. This course will track the musical from its origins in operetta and minstrelsy of the 19th century to modern 21st century musicals. It will pay attention not only to musical form and function but societal and contemporary issues reflected in these theatrical works. The course will discuss major composers, lyricists, producers, directors, choreographers, performers, and conductors of Musical Theatre.
