This course examines the fundamentals of digital illustration and use of computer as a medium. Emphasis on concept, creativity and communication in drawing and composing illustrations, realistic modeling and rendering skills, and manipulation of digital software tools such as pencil, pen, and brush. Other topics are the historical development of digital illustration and the preparation of illustrations for screen, prepress and exhibition. Note: Fulfills SUNY-GE The Arts. This course focuses on the exploration of advanced digital drawing techniques. Students will be challenged to combine their imagination and computer software tools to create artistic solutions that are real-world, professional, and visually engaging. This course expands digital art experience using raster software for traditional painting techniques and producing art for visual communication, self-expression, and conceptual ideas. Incorporated will be theory and practice of digital painting media, exploration of traditional and new forms of art making along with expanding one's creativity.
