MHAD 507Clinical Research Trials Science and Management : This course is designed to provide3
students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices involved in conducting clinical research trials. In this course, students will learn about the entire lifecycle of a clinical trial, from the initial planning and design to the final analysis and reporting of results. They will gain a deep understanding of the ethical considerations, regulatory requirements, and best practices for conducting clinical trials. The course will cover a wide range of topics, including study design, participant recruitment and enrollment, data collection and management, statistical analysis, and safety monitoring. Students will also learn about the role of various stakeholders in clinical trials, such as investigators, sponsors, ethics committees, and regulatory authorities. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge through case studies and practical exercises. They will learn how to develop a research protocol, create data collection forms, analyze clinical trial data, and interpret the results. MHAD 510Leadership and Organizational Behavior : This course examines moral leadership in the3
context of professional public service largely through the use of case-based studies, media, and grey literature. The course will focus on cultivating proficiency in a range of skills that together help to ground moral action. These skills include: 1) accurately perceiving the moral dimensions of situations that arise in public service, 2) adequately weighing moral tradeoffs that have to be made as part of strategic action, and 3) effectively putting into reflective equilibrium, the verdicts of the heart and those of the head. Additionally, the course promotes 4) the capacity to entertain different moral perspectives, that is, the ability to temporarily live in another person’s moral universe and see the world through their eyes. The ability to do this well is an essential component to successfully practicing the skills needed for virtuous action. Prerequisite: None
MHAD 511Program Planning, Finance, Administration, and Evaluation : This course presents3
methods for the identification of population-based needs for public health intervention, development of programs to meet those needs, and evaluation of the effectiveness of these public health interventions. The course integrates several knowledge and skill areas including: research methods, epidemiology, biostatistics, proposal writing, budget planning, project management, and program evaluation.
