through discussions with faculty advisor resulting in the development of a topic and written document called the Individual Development Plan. Review course tracking sheet based on skills and methods student plans to learn. The IDP is a living document that is part of the student's self-assessment and departmental annual review. Supports the student's successful performance in the program and prepares students for their intended future career. Students will be able to: assess current skills, interests, and strengths; develop skills to meet academic and professional goals; communicate and collaborate with supervisors, advisors, potential employers, and mentors about evolving goals and related skills; receive written feedback from professor and advisor on the student's academic progress.

SGHT 605Health Equity Thesis/Capstone : All students must complete a thesis or capstone project in3

order to graduate from the MS Health Equity program. As the culminating experience, this course serves as an independent, theory-based or practice-based inquiry in which the student applies knowledge and skills acquired during the Health Equity program to the scholarly study of a complex health issue. For the thesis option, the student presents a complex issue with background information and must defend the urgency in addressing the issue. The student will then present the analysis, explanation(s), or assertion(s) that they are making about the topic. The student will be expected to make an oral presentation in addition to submitting their thesis in writing. For the capstone option, the student will select a topic related to a complex health issue based on an experience (usually through the GHEX 100 MS Applied Learning Experience). Similarly, the student will provide an analysis on the topic, including background information, landscape analysis, as well as any carried-out interventions or proposed interventions that may provide a solution to the issue presented. The student will also be required to submit the project in a written format and provide 149

SGHT 700Health Policy Thesis : All accelerated students in the Master of Science in Health Policy must3

complete a thesis project. This project is a rigorous academic requirement; as the culmination experience in the Master of Science in Health Policy program, it is an independent, theory-based inquiry in which the student applies knowledge and skills acquired during the Health Policy program to the scholarly study of a public health or health care problem. In SGH, the thesis project may take the form of either a Special Studies Project (e.g. a deliverable for an organization) or a Research Project (e.g. systematic review, analysis of primary or secondary data) using quantitative, qualitative or other methodologies and presented in a traditional style or manuscript style. Prerequisites: All Foundation and Core Courses taken or concurrently completing.

SGHT 902Dissertation and Defense : The dissertation defense course consists of the last3

students will take in their final semester. It is designed to finalize and prepare the student for their final oral examination that evaluates a student's dissertation and its relationship to their field of study. This is the last formal step prior to a student submitting their dissertation manuscript and receiving their doctoral degree. GHPH 70201 Biostatistics I (Introductory): This is an introductory course in the basic statistical concepts, principles, and methods used in the health sciences. Taught as part of the core curriculum for all Master of Science in Public Health students, the broad goal of this component is to enable students to have basic knowledge and its application in the experimental and non-experimental phases of health care administration and medical disciplines.
