Presents circuit diagrams for air conditioning units, reading and drawing of circuit diagrams, types of electrical controls. Includes analysis of air conditioning circuits, components, analysis and characteristics of circuits and controls, testing and servicing. Introduces electricity for air conditioning which includes circuit elements, direct current circuits and motors, single and three-phase circuits and motors, power distribution systems, and protective devices. Studies the electron and its behavior in passive and active circuits and components. Demonstrates electronic components and circuits as applied to air conditioning system. Lecture: 2 hours. AIR 195EPA Section 608 Exam Prep Class1

Students will be given lecture on the EPA Section 608 exam as well as practice exams to prepare them for their actual exam. At the end of this course they will sit for their exam administered by their instructor and mailed to Esco Institute for grading and processing. This is a requirement by the EPA for anyone handling a regulated refrigerant determined by the EPA. All persons must take and pass this exam before they are allowed to work in the HVAC/R field. Lecture: 2 hours per week.
