9 courses with the subject CIV, each shown exactly as we captured it from the college's catalog, with every element we hold. Where the wording looks broken, that is our reading of the catalog, not the college's text.
CIV 171Surveying I3
Introduces surveying equipment, procedures and computations including adjustment of instruments, distance measurement, leveling, angle measurement, traversing, traverse adjustments, area computations and introduction to topography. Lecture: 2 hours. Laboratory: 3 hours. Total: 5 hours per week. An additional career and technical education course specific fee of $25.00 per credit hour applies to this course. The price is discounted 50% to $12.50 per credit hour for the 2026-27 academic year only.
Engineering Technical Mathematics or divisional approval.
CIV 172Surveying II3
Introduces surveys for transportation systems including the preparation and analysis of topographic maps, horizontal and vertical curves, earthwork and other topics related to transportation construction. Lecture: 2 hours. Laboratory: 3 hours. Total: 5 hours per week.
Teaches the art, science, and technologies used in the determination of position. Introduces basic plane surveying measurements and computations for horizontal, vertical and angular measurement, traversing, area, simple curves, topography, and construction surveys, and introduces Geographic Information Systems. Lecture: 3 hours. Total: 3 hours per week. An additional career and technical education course specific fee of $25.00 per credit hour applies to this course. The price is discounted 50% to $12.50 per credit hour for the 2026-27 academic year only.
Teaches use of instrumentation to make basic plane surveying measurements for horizontal, vertical, and angular measurement, and includes construction survey and layout. Focuses on the use of pacing techniques, steel tape, level, and total stations. Laboratory: 3 hours. Total: 3 hours per week. An additional career and technical education course specific fee of $25.00 per credit hour applies to this course. The price is discounted 50% to $12.50 per credit hour for the 2026-27 academic year only.
Presents the basic fundamentals of erosion and sediment control to the practical problems of drainage design. The use of design aids with supportive theory is stressed to insure an understanding of the background, the theory of development, basic assumptions and limitations of the various methods of controlling storm water run off and limiting sediment erosion across a site. Lecture: 3 hours. Total: 3 hours per week.
Specializes in career orientation and training program (without pay) supervised and coordinated by the College in selected local businesses and industries. Credit/work ratio not to exceed 1:5 hours. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
Presents the basic fundamentals of hydrology and hydraulics to the practical problems of drainage design. The use of design aids with supportive theory is stressed to insure an understanding of the background, the theory of development, basic assumptions and limitations of the various methods of estimating storm water run off and hydraulic structure design. Part I of II. Lecture: 3 hours. Total: 3 hours per week. An additional career and technical education course specific fee of $25.00 per credit hour applies to this course. The price is discounted 50% to $12.50 per credit hour for the 2026-27 academic year only.
