Introduces students to Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) as aspects of a quality management system. Requires demonstration and application of QA and QC procedures employed by the pharmaceutical industry. Includes design review, fundamentals of statistics, procurement control, sampling and control chart systems, quality reporting, process capability analysis, tool and gauge control, document control, and troubleshooting quality control. Lecture: 2 hours per week. Laboratory: 3 hours per week. Total: 5 hours per week.
Examines physical, chemical, and biological contaminants, transporters, methods of prevention, and monitoring practices to manage contamination risks in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Lecture: 3 hours per week. Laboratory: 3 hours per week. Total: 6 hours per week.
