Business analytics allows for the conversion of raw data into actionable real-world insights. We’ll build a foundation of knowledge in the fundamentals of statistics and data science using business data to formulate key metrics. We’ll use a programming language to summarize and visualize data, interpret patterns, infer population parameters, explore relationships among variables, and make forecasts. No prior programming experience is expected. BUS 2002 will count towards the statistics requirement of both the business administration and accounting majors (currently also satisfied by POL 2002 , ECON 2002 , etc.). It will also count towards the statistics requirement of the Data Science minor. Due to contact overlap, students may take only one of the following courses for degree credit : BUS 2002, POL 2002 , ECON 2002 . Students who have already taken CBSC 2500 should not take any of these other courses.

This undergraduate course examines ethical issues associated with business practice from the individual, organizational, and institutional levels. As noted by the AACSB International, it is essential for business students to understand the symbiotic relationship between business and society. The actions of business leaders affect not only themselves, but also customers, employees, investors, suppliers, governments, citizens, and communities. Moreover, their choices can either enhance or undermine trust in business and in capitalism more broadly. By defining the purpose of a business in terms of its social context, the various broader impacts on different communities and on the environment can be better understood and evaluated. To that end, the primary goal of this course is that students be able to apply ethical principles and values to make informed business decisions. During first round of registration, preference will be given to: BSADM majors, LJS and Arts Management minors.

- BUS 2200 Credits: 3 Uncertainty abounds. Will AI usher in an era of peace and prosperity or will we be servants to our robot overlords? Given human biases, can one even make a rational decision? In this interdisciplinary class, drawing on the psychology that underpins decision sciences, we will explore how to more effectively plan for and make sense of a fast-changing business, financial, technological and political landscape.
In an era increasingly defined by artificial intelligence, “Managing AI” dissects its transformative impact on business and society. The course examines AI from multiple angles: the technological infrastructure, the commercial and geopolitical forces shaping its development, and its profound implications for business and social structures. Through dynamic, hands-on projects, students move from theory to practice, developing the skills to lead in this fast-changing landscape. Projects challenge students to perform a strategic investment analysis, critique corporate AI adoption, design AI-native business models, use AI for their professional development, and communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences. This course prepares students to navigate AI’s commercial complexities and societal shifts with an informed, strategic vision.
