We will also explore how the law has been used for change and what the landscape of modern neighborhood equity social movements looks like. With a focus on areas like Flint, MI, Worcester and Lowell, MA, Baltimore, MD, and San Francisco, CA, we'll consider the roles of zoning laws, land use laws, and political history.
This course explores Afrofuturism as a cultural, artistic, and philosophical movement, examining how Black creators across literature, film, music, and visual art use speculative imagination to reclaim history, reimagine the present, and envision liberated futures.
