7 courses with the subject CHE, each shown exactly as we captured it from the college's catalog, with every element we hold. Where the wording looks broken, that is our reading of the catalog, not the college's text.
Chemistry 1 and CHE103L
Catalog Description: Introduces the fundamental principles of chemistry including: atomic structure, periodicity, chemical bonding, molecular geometry, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, solutions, gases and thermochemistry. Recommended for students pursuing careers in science, engineering, health and/or technology fields. A solid math/algebra background is expected. Three class hours. with a grade of “C” or higher or Regents Chemistry with a Regents exam score 75 or higher or MAT 102 or higher. The math requirements may be taken concurrently with CHE 103. (Note: MAT 108 MAT 129, MAT 116 and MAT 117 are not accepted as math prerequisites.)
Catalog Description: CHE 103L is the application of the didactic instruction for CHE 103 and a required corequisite. Skills and performance in CHE 103L are assessed as a component of CHE 103 and therefore must be successfully completed in addition to all the requirements for CHE 103. CHE 103L supports concepts from the lecture (atomic structure, periodicity, chemical bonding, molecular geometry, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, alog (2025-2026) solutions, gases, and thermochemistry) and covers basic lab skills, capturing information in a lab notebook, determining conclusions from experimental results and designing next experiments based upon previous results. with a grade of 'C' or higher or Regents Chemistry with a Regents exam score 75 or higher or MAT 102 or higher. The math requirements may be taken concurrently with CHE 103. (Note: MAT 108 MAT 129, MAT 116 and MAT 117 are not accepted as math prerequisites.) Three lab hours.
Catalog Description: A continuation of General Chemistry 1 includes properties of solids, liquids and solutions, kinetics, chemical equilibrium, acid/base chemistry, precipitation, thermodynamics, oxidation/reduction, and electrochemistry. Recommended for students pursuing careers in science, engineering, health and/or technology fields. A solid math/algebra background is expected. Three class hours. with a grade of “C” or higher.
MAT 140 Pre-calculus 4 1 BIO 126 General Biology 2 3 2
Catalog Description: Survey of carbon- containing compounds, including bonding, intermolecular forces, configurations, stereochemistry and reaction mechanisms. Properties and reactions for the following functional groups: alkyl halides, alkenes, alkynes, and alcohols. Fall only. Three class hours, three lab hours. Prerequisite: CHE104.
Catalog Description: Application of common analytical techniques (mass spec, IR and NMR spectroscopy) used in organic chemistry. Topics include properties, reactions, synthesis and mechanisms of the following functional groups: alcohols, ethers, aromatics, ketones, aldehydes, amines, and carboxylic acids. Three class hours, three lab hours. Spring only. Prerequisite: CHE 201.
